Liquid lenses allow the manufacture of electrically controlled lenses of very small scale (external diameter 8mm, thickness 2mm) in order to equip the next generation of miniature digital cameras in portable devices (telephones, PDAs, ultra-thin digital cameras, etc...). Easy setup, fast response and low electrical comsumption of our lenses are their strengths on these markets.

Currently, the variation's speed of the liquid lens that we produce (response time 2/100 s) is a major asset for characters' reading, 1D or 2D bar codes, or other biometrical identification elements such as iris and fingerprints recognition.

We view to enter the medical market, very fond of new miniature optical solutions which can easily fit in head of endoscopes. Applications are multiple, such as imaging, imaging by confocal microscopy, laser beam focus control on tumours, etc... Ophtalmology could also benefit from new concepts emerging from adaptive liquid optics.
