Fast Development for Liquid Lens Auto Focus Camera Modules Using Lens Mount Launched by Varioptic and Tyco Electronics Lyon (France), 11th June 2007 Varioptic and Tyco Electronics announce today the launch of the first liquid lens auto focus lens mount for auto-focus camera modules. Varioptic, in collaboration with Tyco Electronics, has developed a set of designs to support fast integration of variable focus liquid lenses into thin camera modules. The lens mounts allow camera modules manufacturers to integrate easily liquid lenses into slim-line 2 and 3MP camera modules of 6mm and less. As a result it will reduce development time and cost, and facilitate quicker product launches. The first of these is the AFLM414-992A lens mount which consists of Varioptic’s Arctic 414 liquid lens, a fixed lens module, and a TYCO lens mount. Varioptic’s Arctic 414 is designed to fit low footprint camera modules, particularly suitable to meet the current trend of slim line camera phones.
